About the course

This program increases doctors’ understanding of Cause of Death Certificates in Queensland. It examines the legislation surrounding reporting cause of death, a guided tour of the Cause of Death Certificate, and interactive workshops. Participants can increase their confidence in completing Cause of Death Certificates and improve their understanding of when and how to report to the Coroner as well as situations when a Cause of Death Certificate should not be written.

Learning outcomes

Participants will:

1. Produce an accurate cause of death certificate that follows a logical progression or sequence of disease processes.
2. Identify which deaths are to be reported to a coroner.
3. Demonstrate how to report a death to a coroner.
4. Determine when a cause of death certificate can be issued where natural causes is the probable cause of death.

Health care professionals who work in Queensland. If you do not work in Queensland, please contact us prior to registering to attend.

Cancellation policy

A refund less $100 administration fee will be provided for all cancellations received at least 14 days prior to the course start date. Any cancellations after this point will be non-refundable.

Please do not attend if you are sick with a contagious illness such as COVID-like symptoms. If you cannot attend due to illness we will issue a credit note to attend the next available course.

Contingency Planning:

If a situation occurs which significantly affects the majority of participants’ ability to attend in person, the course may either be postponed to a later date or held entirely online. Any such decision will be communicated to all as soon as possible if this circumstance arises. By registering, you agree to attend the course virtually on the same dates, should this circumstance arise.
